Website of the Week

What is the Teen Website of the Week?
This weekly blog posting began in November 2017 based on interest expressed during a Teen Think Tank presentation of the same name. It was forced to conclude in July 2018 when the author Jason Sharp moved out of state for new career opportunities. The author would like to thank the many regular readers of this blog posting and wishes his fellow teen librarians the very best. The original introduction follows:

According to Internet Live Stats, there are over 1.9 billion active websites worldwide. Faced with this overwhelming number of options, most of my teens simply stick to the same dozen or so websites their friends use (ie: Roblox, Youtube, Instagram), which means a lot of high quality websites that might help them develop new interests go unnoticed. In an effort to provide engaging on-desk programming and alleviate teen boredom, I began to highlight some of my favorite content creator websites and the Teen Website of the Week program was born.

Each week I seek out new and exciting websites based on the current interests of my teens and highlight the one I think they will most appreciate. I evaluate each website based on how appropriate they are for my own teen patrons and I’ve included a section on the target audience in each entry as many (but not all) will be appropriate for younger ages. Websites that focus on content creation are prioritized, however there will be other types of websites as well to provide some variety and to fill gaps during weeks I cannot find a suitable candidate.

Website of the WeeK: Storyboard that

Storyboard That
https://www.storyboardthat.com/storyboard-creator

Category: Art

Why It’s Awesome: Create simple storyboards and scenes using either preset images or uploaded images. After scenes or comics are created, it’s easy to save and share the creations although there does not appear to built-in sharing platform which is disappointing.

Audience:  All Ages

Keywords: Storyboard, Art, Comics
